What about these steps?
When will I go to the next step?
Does this have anything to do with step aerobics?
What if I have an injury or surgery and must step back?
Hello from AWE! We hope you are enjoying our early spring and have had an opportunity to enjoy a class or more at Arts and Wellness of Edenton. We created the “Step” system to give folks a way to easily identify the class that was right for them. Keeping in mind that every season (or even every day) your body may need something different. Take for example our Step 1 Restorative Classes, which are a time to rest, be supported by various props such as blocks, bolsters and blankets and a time to take the longer exhales which allow our nervous system to reset. On the other end of the spectrum is our Step 4 Monday Evening Yoga where we work in challenging postures, build heat in the body and test our balance, and enjoy savasana (lovely resting posture at the end of class). Both classes are great and both offer our bodies things they need equally. There are also Step 2 and 3 classes where we learn new things and build up our endurance and enjoy rest. But the most important part of this system is the listening you must do to your body to decide what class will best serve your needs at the time. Just as your body needs different nutrients and you enjoy different meals during the week, a variety of classes will serve your body in the best way possible. We give modifications and options in all our classes and the most “advanced” students are the ones who take time to decide what best serves them. There is a time and a place for each of these classes and we invite you to come and enjoy all that is offered at AWE.
